How the pages sit on the sheets

The print-ready PDF places the pages like this, so that printing both sides and folding gives the pages in reading order. The dashed line is the fold.

Printing it at home

1. Open the print-ready PDF and choose Print.
2. Set the scale to 100% or "Actual size", not "Fit to page", so the fold lands in the middle.
3. Choose two-sided printing and flip on short edge. The sheets are landscape, and flipping on the long edge prints the inside upside down.
4. Print one copy first. Put sheet 2 inside sheet 1, fold them together and check the pages run 1 to 8.
5. Fold along the middle. Two staples on the fold hold the sheets together; a long-reach stapler reaches the middle of the sheet.

Printers without two-sided printing can print the odd sheets, turn the stack over and feed it back in. Test with one copy, because printers differ in which way the paper needs to go back in.

At a print shop

Give the shop the print-ready PDF and ask for it printed double-sided on two sheets per copy, folded and saddle-stitched (stapled on the fold), at actual size. If the shop prefers to arrange the pages itself, give it the page-by-page PDF instead and ask for an 8-page saddle-stitched booklet on US Letter or A4 sheets. Neither file needs bleed, because nothing is printed to the edge of the page.
