Accessibility Statement

We want everyone to be able to make a booklet for someone they have lost, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, magnification or voice control.

Our aim: WCAG 2.1 Level AA

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA, and we test against it when we change the site.

What we do

• A skip link, one main heading per page, and headings in order.
• A label on every form field, and buttons that say what they do, including the buttons that move and remove parts of the running order.
• Everything, including reordering the running order and adjusting photos, works with a keyboard, and the focus is always visible.
• Text and controls meet the AA contrast ratios. Messages about whether the booklet fits are given in words, not by color alone, and are announced to screen readers.
• The layout reflows on small screens and when zoomed.

Known limitations

• The page preview is a picture of the page. Screen readers announce each preview page by name, but not the layout. Everything that appears on the page is what you typed in the form, and the status message says whether it all fits.
• The PDFs are made for printing. Their text can be selected and read aloud by most PDF readers, but they are not tagged PDFs, so a screen reader may not follow the reading order of the page. If you need an accessible version of your booklet, email us and we will provide one.
